Frauscher celebrates the European Year of Rail

Share now!

The European Union declared 2021 as the “European Year of Rail”, with the goal of promoting rail transport as the most sustainable, safe, and comfortable mode of transportation available today. Many events have been taking place throughout the year, providing knowledge to all about this important means of transportation and providing an excellent opportunity to look at how Frauscher contributes to the bright future of railways as a green mode of transportation. It also provides the stage to place our successful local offices into the spotlight and to share exciting news about what is yet to come, both for Frauscher and the future of railways in Europe.

Connecting countries, businesses, and people

Green Transportation and Interoperability

Ambitious goals for reduced emissions in the transport of people and goods can be met by increased utilization of the rail sector, which has already become increasingly popular around the world. In order to further position rail as a more attractive alternative to air and road transportation, the challenge is to increase interoperability to enable accessible cross-border train traffic for both passenger and freight services in Europe.

Starting from Lisbon on September 2nd and traveling through 26 European countries over the span of several weeks, the Connecting Europe Express is intended to showcase this unifying force of rail while at the same time highlighting the challenges that the European rail industry must overcome to tap into its full potential as a mode of green transportation.

Frauscher's integral part in

Shaping the future of rail in Europe

The EU’s ambitious goals will have a profound impact on the European rail market and create the ideal environment in which innovation can flourish. Pioneering technological innovations have been at the heart of Frauscher's strategy since the company was founded in 1987, creating forward thinking solutions that have enabled the rail industry to continuously develop and improve.

With this in mind, Frauscher’s digital and data-driven solutions in wheel detection and axle counting ensure that demands for higher capacity and train density can be met with existing infrastructure. They enable railway operators and system integrators to ensure high levels of safety, reliability, and punctuality of railway operations, while also reducing downtime via predictive maintenance and diagnostics. These capabilities and improvements will ultimately allow millions of people to utilize more efficient railways on a daily basis, providing an environmentally friendly means of travel.

CULTIVATING LONG-TERM COLLABORATIONS

Frauscher's presence in Europe

Maintaining close relationships to its customers and understanding their respective markets have always been of utmost importance at Frauscher. While the headquarters in Austria remains a strong base for research and development as well as production, the establishment and steady growth of locations throughout Europe over the years has paved the way for Frauscher's success today.

A success story all its own, Frauscher Polska was established  in 1998 and was recently highlighted by Managing Director Andrzej Bartnik in our corporate blog.  In addition, local offices in the UK, France, Croatia and Serbia have expanded Frauscher's market presence throughout the continent, as well as the opening of the Innovation Centre in Annaberg-Buchholz in 2018 and our office in Frankfurt, Germany. These expansions allow Frauscher to grow and strengthen its leading position among signaling companies in the railway industry.

Outlook for the future

In summary, railways are faced with a bright future that Frauscher continues to actively contribute towards as a technology leader. The European Year of Rail is a means to celebrate the EU’s ambitious goals of low-carbon mobility and to further promote rail as a key enabler for green transportation. Maria Reisinger recently wrote about Frauscher’s understanding of sustainability and environmental friendliness from the perspective of its Corporate Social Responsibility.

It is equally important to highlight the successes of Frauscher locations outside of Europe.  Frauscher recently won the Export Price 2021 awarded by the Austrian Chamber of Commerce in recognition of Frauscher’s sales increase of 5% in 2020, celebrating outstanding successes at our Australia, China and India locations among others, despite the pandemic.
